A school’s latest results tell you about one year. Understanding whether that year is typical means finding earlier figures, checking what they count and noticing when the definitions change. Those details are scattered across results pages, reports and archives.

Qualifications, missing years and source limitations remain visible. A blank means the record has no usable figure for that question; it does not mean the school achieved zero. A university page shows what the school sources record, rather than predicting an individual pupil’s prospects.
Coverage is uneven and research continues. The schools included reflect the collection’s coverage, not an overall ranking. An unsuccessful search or an inaccessible archive does not establish that a school never published a result.
Independent findings
Schools do not determine the figures or conclusions shown here. A commercial commission cannot change a finding. The proposed adviser evidence review would add source checks and interpretation for an agreed client question; enquiries and commissioning are not yet open. Read about the adviser review.
A record you can check
Earlier recorded figures are preserved when new observations, source checks and explanations are added. Where publications disagree, the disagreement remains visible until the sources support a documented resolution.
Who is responsible, and what is automated
The Schools Record is edited and published by its founder, who is responsible for everything on it. No advisory board or external review panel stands behind it, and none is implied.
Automated: the extraction of published figures into evidence entries with their source references; the comparisons, claim tests and results histories, which the site calculates from the recorded figures under the rules set out in the methodology; and the coverage counts on each profile.
Checked by a person: source checks recorded against individual entries, with the date of the most recent check shown on each profile; the editorial articles, which are written and attributed to The Schools Record; and commissioned reviews, which are checked and signed by a named reviewer for the agreed question.
Corrections: recorded corrections and differing published figures are listed with what changed and why, and earlier figures are preserved rather than overwritten. Anyone can report a figure that looks wrong; the corrections policy below says what happens next.

Who publishes The Schools Record
The Schools Record is an independent publication. The person legally responsible for it, and the data controller for the little personal information it handles, is [legal name to be added by the publisher before launch]. The privacy notice says what that information is.

Funding and independence
No school pays to appear on this site, to be left out of it, or to change what it says. The Schools Record carries no advertising and no sponsorship, and its costs are met by its publisher. The only income planned is the adviser review described on the For advisers page. A commissioned review cannot change a published figure or finding.

Corrections policy
If you think a figure is wrong, use “Report a problem with this figure” on its record page, prepare a fuller report, or write to corrections@theschoolsrecord.co.uk. We reply within 10 working days.
We check every report against the school’s own publication. If the figure is wrong, we correct it, keep the earlier figure visible beside the new one, and record what changed and why in the corrections ledger. If the figure matches what the school published, we tell you so and explain why it stands. A change to a figure is never slipped into a design update: it is always listed on its own.

Schools’ right of reply
Every school named here can question any figure about it, or send a short note on how a figure should be read. Write to corrections@theschoolsrecord.co.uk from a school email address and name the page or record. We reply within 10 working days.
If we find an error, we correct it under the policy above. If we keep a figure, we explain why, and we consider publishing the school’s note alongside it and tell the school what we decide. Practical details such as entry points, fees and open days can be sent to hello@theschoolsrecord.co.uk until school verification opens on the For schools page.
